February 4th
We are happy to announce that Silver will be supporting SuNica on Saturday, February the 4th @ Tir Na Nog here in Raleigh, NC. If you don't know much about SuNica here's a quick blurb:
Betty Gutierrez-Martinez and Josh Pease first came to Nicaragua on a whim in 2005 with few known goals other than to get to know the people and even fewer expectations. What they found and the people they would grow to love have made it impossible to let go. They worked with a small NGO based out of Asheville, NC teaching in the school, leading building projects, and staying steadily involved in the local church. Eventually Alan Wilser made his way down in 2007 and would develop the same love and passion for the people of Nicaragua. Over the past 4 years, their love for the people has translated into a more concise understanding of their needs and a passion to see them grow both spiritually and economically. Out of this was born SuNica. SuNica is as much your story as it is our story or the people of Nicaragua’s story. Our hope is that we can partner together to create a self sufficient Nicaragua and help a beautiful, dignified people meet their potential.
Silver will play with several other local bands on February 4th @ Tir Na Nog in Raleigh, NC on Moore Square. Tickets are 5 bucks + all proceeds go directly to SuNica. Here's a map:

Behind The Art
Brent Francese plays drums for Silver. He's also a graphic artist + did the graphic art for the Feeling Of Falling EP. He answers a few questions below.
Q1: What was the main inspiration behind the new EP design?
Brent: I big part of it was wanting to do something that people could hold onto. We didn't want to just produce another shrink wrapped CD, but a piece of art. Something that was a little more tangible.
Q2: So all of the EPs are different + contain content from three different poems as well as the music itself, how did this come about?
Brent: A good portion of it was accident really. I had produced graphic art pieces for three poets + I produced way too many so I was left with a ton of left overs. I didn't want to throw them away of course so they sat in my guest room. A year and a half later here they are providing inspiration for our new EP. So I decided to reuse them.
Q3: So you had these graphic pieces, how'd you use them?
Brent: I cut them up basically. Into trifold jackets + placed the CDs in them. So everything is handmade. The words were physically pressed by hand. The boards were cut by hand. Everything but the CD itself. It took days.
Q4: Was it hard getting the imagery of the poetry to correspond to the music?
Brent: If I'm honest some of it was pure coincidence. I really just wanted to recycle the graphic pieces, but the more I read the poetry I realized the images really worked with the music. The bird on the CD face came from the poem "Orchard" by Brian Howe. The image was reflective of the poem. The image works well with the music. Though the music is fairly distant from the poetry. Yet it all relates in a way. I was very pleased with how that worked out.
Q5: So you have three mediums put together in one cohesive piece, was that the end goal in making Feeling Of Falling?
Brent: It wasn't really our goal as a band, though we wanted our music to be more permanent like I said before. I think every band wants their music to really last. We wanted it to be more than just this digital thing. That was a goal I think. We wanted something more than just a couple songs. And I've always wanted to put three mediums (of art) together with one of those mediums involving music. It provided a unique opportunity for us + one we are really excited about. There are only 53 of these things (Feeling of Falling Limited Edition EPs) + they took days to make so I'm just really happy how it all came about. I think we've made something more than just a piece of music. I'm excited for people to see them.
